Before, there was one source of water for everything: an irrigation canal. Families walked there for drinking water, for bathing, for cooking, for washing clothes — every use, one canal. The water was often filthy, and it was the only option.
We drilled a fresh water well with a solar-powered pump to change that. Clean water is now available right where families live, for drinking, bathing, cooking, and washing — without a walk to the canal and without the risk that came with it.
One well doesn't reach everyone. We're now working on hand-pump wells and other sites to bring clean water further.
Clean water is a small line on a list of needs, until you've been carrying it from a canal for years. It's one of the most direct things a donation can fix — and one of the fastest to make a difference in a family's day.
